Jeep grand cherokee coolant reservoir cap12/18/2023 It had heat in the beginning but it went away. I probably spent 1 to 1.5 hours just watching for air bubbles and topping the coolant off. I inspected my work made sure everything was tight and in place no leftover parts no tools or rags under the hood, then I started it.īleeding the system is long, and boring, and tedious, and time consuming. I then hosed out the front of the engine compartment to rinse the old coolant away, replaced my air filter since I was in there, and then reinstalled the air intake tract. Then I opened the bleeder screw, started to fill the radiator until the coolant came out the bleeder screw with no air bubbles, tightened the screw, and continued to fill. Just slide the hose to the stops on both ends, then grab those tabs, pull 'em off, and you're done. There's stops on both the outlet and inlet so you can't mess it up. I just put some water on the ID of both ends of the hose and the OD of the engine outlet and radiator inlet to facilitate the hose sliding on. Getting the new hose on wasn't difficult. Sprayed the outlet & inlet with some all purpose cleaner, scrubbed with an old toothbrush, and wiped them off. I had to use a utility knife to cut some "relief cuts" in the end of the hose to help release it from the inlet. I had to peel the remainder of the clamp off which wasn't difficult, but the hose was really stuck on. If you look at that pic again, you can see the other crack. Got my channel locks on the clamp ears, and as soon as I put pressure on the clamp ears, the whole clamp broke in half. There is no sliding the clamp down first. Got my channel locks in there, squeezed the ears, and slid the hose and clamp off as one. It was still holding the clamps in place. The glue they use to hold those clamps on is strong. I then started with the hose at the engine. I put a hose on the petcock drain and ran it to a drain pan under the car, opened the petcock and let it drain for about 10 minutes. Once it's out of the way ton of room to work. Plus, that think blocks the bleeder screw on top of the t-stat housing. Makes the job a LOT easier with that out of the way.
